Because we have mismatched blood types, and because of the
huge bruise on his noggin from the vacuum device, Jack had to stay an extra day in the hospital. He started to develop jaundice pretty early on, and it was worrisome enough that they sent us home with a "biliblanket"--a little pad hooked up to a machine that produces intense blue light. The light pad had to be against his skin on his back 24/7...even while we held him, did diaper changes, etc. It was a real pain in the butt. But before this technology, babies like Jack would have had to stay in the hospital nursery, rather than be sent home, so we were thankful for that. Here are some "homecoming" photos!
Daddy dresses Jack in his "homecoming" attire.
Note that Daddy spent a good amount of time at Babies 'R' Us
picking out just the perfect outfit. :-)

Mommy helps Jack into the car seat.
He is not so sure this is a great idea.
It turns out Jack is really quite fond of traveling in the car.

This isn't the room we set up to be Jack's nursery,
but because it's small and has a futon,
we made it our temporary home base.
We needed a place where we could sleep
next to him while he was on the "biliblanket."

Here's a picture of the "biliblanket."
Looks kinda sci-fi, don't you think?
